Liquidambar styraciflua

A burst of colour. That’s what you can expect from the Liquidambar styraciflua (American red gum, Sweet gum) in autumn. Its star-shaped leaves can charm many even during summer, but in autumn you can’t ignore it. The colours range from yellow, orange, red, to even purple.

When the leaves have fallen, another characteristic immediately attracts attention. Our older specimens have a beautiful grey-brown deeply grooved bark and on the branches there are cork strips that provide a beautiful texture there too.
