One of a kind

One of a kind. Trees one of a kind, the trees that represent “Solitair”. You see a simple landscape in front of you with one beautifully shaped silhouette. You admire a work of nature’s art.

Over the years, these types of trees have increasingly become the strength of our company. Both in our own nursery and on quests across Europe, we collect those specimens that make our hearts beat faster.

A SIMPLE LANDSCAPE WITH ONE BEAUTIFULLY SHAPED SILHOUETTE. A WORK OF ART BY NATURE.
The role of context and environment cannot be underestimated. In this setting, our Solitary pot in combination with this Pinus sylvestris 'Watereri' comes into its own magnificently.
Often, time and patience are the key to beauty. Species like this Acer palmatum 'Dissectum Atropurpureum' get beautiful silhouettes due to their extremely slow growth.
Our most special pieces each have their own story. They are not perfect. It is their past, the experience that makes them unique. Old trunk wounds are given time to recover and contribute to the character of the tree.
Besides the special characters, we also specialised in the maximum sizes that can still be transported. Indeed, depending on the context, size can also play a role in the unique atmosphere that is created. Specimens that are already larger than the house or building can just be deliberately chosen to create the feeling that this combination has always been there like that.
Personally selecting the most suitable specimens is extremely important to us and we like to take our time. We love the fine interaction that can take place between (garden) architect, contractor and customer.
This Acer campestre fascinates us by the beautiful contrast of its rather wild, whimsical, moss-covered trunk and the finely branched, carefully pruned crown.
IN SHAPE PRUNING, IT IS OUR HUMAN INTERVENTION THAT WILL CHANGE A TREE INTO A DIFFERENT, UNIQUE SHAPE. THIS IS ALWAYS DONE WITH RESPECT FOR THE INDIVIDUAL PLANT.
A well-known tradition is the Japanese Niwaki (macrobonsai), where generations work on a tree before it goes to its final destination.
Sometimes the power of pruning lies in aerating the crown to accentuate the structure even more beautifully.
Another way we like to create unique images is by working not with a single solitary, but with groups of plants.
In this case, we created a beautiful shape by forming a composition of yews that we started pruning as one.
The compositions we exhibit are always different. They can range from groups of two to hundreds of mature plants that together form one strong image. In addition to pruned compositions, very natural trunks can also create a unique image.
The English topiary forms are known worldwide. We like to keep this tradition alive. Sometimes we take our inspiration from the classic, but we also like to let our imagination do its job. We always try to do this with respect for the individual plant by looking at what basis is already present.
This Amelanchier lamarckii was given time to grow into a beautiful mature specimen. Suitable for a city garden, large garden or park where it would do wonderfully well. We gladly provide a nice selection of trees, after which it is up to the garden architect and contractor to fully express their beauty.
